Week of 11/25

This week our groups continued to work on their assigned parts of the website. Everyone attended class on Friday to help patch together all the open ends of the project. All of the content has been sent in for the website. The class is now in the process of putting all the information into the correct templates to complete the project.

Week of 11/11

An update of the new groups-

Rachael, Brittany, Gerald and Jay joined with a few members of Tigers for Haiti to put together most of the information for the proposal. Kyle went to a different group to help complete the web design and to put most of the information together onto a website. Currently our group is working on getting all of our information into word documents so that we can send it in to the design group.

Week of 10/4

This week our group worked on putting together a To Do list in case our proposal was the one chosen. On Wednesday we found out that Tigers for Haiti's proposal was chosen. We then assigned certain things to each group. Our class found that some groups had different people with different strengths. Because of this we slightly split up the groups and put our strengths together. We have been assigned certain aspect of the Web site, so this week will begin working on that and putting it together.

Week of 10/28

This week our group e-mailed our final proposal to the client. After the completion of the e-mail, we got together and came up with some questions we might would like to ask the students and teachers of the school.
The questions we came up with for students are:
  • What are some activities you do for fun?
  • What do you plan to do with the education you are receiving?
  • What are your favorite subjects?
  • General info such as: favorite color, any brothers/sisters, etc
  • What subjects do you learn?
Questions for teachers:
  • At what age do students learn to read?
  • Do students struggle while trying to learn English? Is learning English a focus?
  • How do you feel about the worth of education for the students and could it impact Haiti?
  • How many students go to college after graduating?

Week of 10/21

This week our group finished out the bulk of our proposal. Everyone put together all of their information into word documents and sent them to Brittany to proof read. Then the information was sent to Kyle to put into the proposal format.
This weekend we took the critiques that we had gotten from class on Friday and made the necessary changes. These tips helped make our proposal look better. We finalized our proposal and got it ready to be submitted to the client on Monday.

Week of 10/14

This week our group met a few times. Each group member had previously been assigned and specific part of the website. We got pictures and information about the foundation from Julia. This information was important because it isn't anything that could be found on the internet. Only these documents we got from Julia had the information we needed.
During our meetings this week we got all of our information together and planned on how we were going to present it in our proposal. This weekend each member of the group was to put their information into a format where it could easily be combined. Everyone sent their work to Kyle so he could combine it in a format that would be suitable to present to our client.

First Group Meeting

On Wednesday 10/10/07 we met in class, and came up with ideas for approaching the project. We decided to divide the research into four sections. I have to find information on schools in Haiti. Brittany, and Rachael are finding information about Haiti's history. Jay is going to find out information about how life was in Haiti in the past. Kyle is going to find out information on how life is in Haiti today.

We also came up with an idea about what our title page would look like. We were thinking we could use some of the students artwork to make it look more attractive. We also thought about some of the links we might need. We came up with these links; adopt a child, our mission, staff, contact information, history of Haiti, and life in Haiti now.
